Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Applies to the BiteLock iOS app
Everything BiteLock knows about you lives on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no BiteLock servers, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. We could not read your data even if we wanted to — it never reaches us.
BiteLock is made by Bedlam Apps ("we", "us"). BiteLock helps you eat one meal a day without your phone by blocking distracting apps during meals and pacing your eating. For anything privacy-related, contact us at support@bedlamapps.com.
BiteLock is built deliberately without a backend. We do not operate servers that receive your personal data, we do not require or offer account creation, and the app makes no network requests to transmit your information to us. As a result, we do not collect, store, sell, share, or process your personal data on any system we control.
To work, BiteLock keeps the following information in the app's local storage on your iPhone. It never leaves your device via BiteLock:
Meal Lock uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework, with your explicit permission, to block the apps you choose during a meal.
If you choose to use PaceCam, the camera feed is analyzed entirely on-device to estimate your eating pace. No photos or video are ever recorded, saved, or uploaded. The camera feed never leaves your iPhone, and nothing from it is stored — only the resulting pace estimate for that meal. PaceCam is optional; Quiet Meal and Meal Lock work without the camera.
If you enable the daily meal reminder, BiteLock schedules a local notification on your device. There are no push notification servers involved; nothing is sent to or from the internet.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID. We never see your name, payment details, or Apple ID.
To check whether your subscription is active (including after a reinstall or on a new phone), BiteLock uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives only an anonymous, app-generated identifier and your App Store purchase receipt — never your name, email, contacts, meal data, or anything else from the app. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf to validate purchases and for no other purpose. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Because your BiteLock data lives in the app's local storage, it may be included in your own iCloud backup or encrypted local backup if you have those enabled, and it transfers to a new iPhone when you migrate devices. Those backups belong to you and are managed by Apple under Apple's terms — we have no access to them.
BiteLock is a self-directed mindful-eating tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children — because we collect no personal information at all. The Screen Time capability is used solely for the user's own device at the user's own request, not to supervise others.
Privacy laws give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection. Because BiteLock stores your data only on your device and we hold none of it, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, export, or delete. You exercise these rights directly:
If you believe we hold any data about you (for example, an email you sent to support), contact support@bedlamapps.com and we will resolve it promptly.
Option 1: In the app, open the Profile tab and tap "Reset all data". This permanently erases your profile, quiz answers, meal history, streaks, settings, and Screen Time tokens.
Option 2: Delete the app. iOS removes all of BiteLock's local storage with it.
Your subscription record with Apple is separate and managed through your Apple ID, per Apple's policies.
Your data is protected by iOS's built-in protections: app sandboxing (other apps cannot read BiteLock's data) and your device's encryption, passcode, and Face ID/Touch ID. Because there is no transmission of your data, there is no data in transit to intercept and no server database to breach.
If BiteLock's data practices ever change — for example, if we add an optional sync feature — we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and describe the change clearly in the app before it applies to you. We will never retroactively apply a less protective policy to data you created under this one.
